recently, an earthquake measuring 9.0 on the Richter scale ripped through the Indian Ocean from the tip of Aceh,Indonesia over an area of 1000 km...what's worse,it happened on a fault line..which means after shocks are bound to happen...tremors from the shock could be felt all the way at Kuala Lumpur,which meant this was no small rumble.
from the rattling earth, giant waves were made and swept through several countries,killing thousands of locals and visitors at various cities and resorts such as Phuket,Aceh,Malaysia,Southern India and the worst of all, Sri Lanka.
the death toll has surpassed 22,000 lives as of printing time of Streats,28th December. In Sri Lanka alone, deaths have chalked up till 10,029 and 800,000 people have lost their homes.
All this happened at about 7 am in the morning on Boxing Day(the day after Christmas). Tragedy strikes without a whiff, i grieve for the family members of the people who were taken without a clue.

Australia has considered to put in place a warning system for the Indian Ocean in the near future. Let us hope that a tragedy like this shall not happen again.
