An excerpt from my Marketing Paper

because I got so agitated by having to write so much, my last question on Service naturally, was filled with 1 line too many that is technically correct, yet sounds very silly. I note that you should not be saying this in an exam!
key word being, "should"...

the question actually states that they would like you to explain the 4 characteristics of a Service, and use an example of a cafe restaurant to explain. along the way, identify why a cafe restaurant is a service as explained by the 4 characteristics.

(Note: my essay wasnt this short, it was actually 2 pages long but im condensing it and including only the funny parts :P)

a service is Intangible, Inseperable, Perishable and Variable. Intangible means that the service cannot be felt/seen and can only be experienced upon purchase. (there was some stuff here but i cant really recall it now, but the killer is just the last line anyway) However, I am sure that the waiters will not pay you any heed if you do not pay the bill.
Inseperable means the service can only be enjoyed at the place of purchase. while a cafe restaurant may allow diners to enjoy their food and drinks, it also offers service in the waiter/waitresses who will provide their service/knowledge to you as part of the experience of being in the cafe restaurant. and even though a cafe restaurant would allow diners to take away food, they will not allow you to take away their waiters/waitresses.
Perishable means that the service cannot be stored for another's or later use. service from the waiters or side benefits such as free wireless internet surfing is only available to patrons who are dining in, and definitely cannot be kept to be used at a later date.
I didnt write anything silly for variability cos that was nearing the end of the paper, and thinking back..if i did i dont think it woulda been good for me :P

and if you're wondering, yes i really did write this in my exam paper :D
